The diversity of products designed and made ranges from 0.1mm stainless steel gold plated section wire forms for use in microsurgery to substantial torsionally precise coil spring devices used in the defence industry. The range of applications and solutions provided is virtually limitless.

Automotive applications

Goss supply a large number of specialist car manufacturers and high performance car restorers, such as the Maserati racing team, with parts as diverse
as springs used in the highly customised door handles to pressed part components used in engine and engine components.

Goss don’t just manufacture low volume customised solutions – one of the simpler yet higher volume components supplied into the automotive industry is the coil spring, to be found in the mounting arrangement of standard oil filters fitted to cars.

Medical applications

Goss and PMT have supplied the medical
industry for many years. Applications in this industry often call for extremely small components used in the medical device.  Goss invested recently in one of the most sophisticated VMM machines with up to 200X magnification in order to inspect incredibly small springs.

Security applications

In the security industry PMT and Goss are known for its range of security, fire detection and safety products working closely with the customer to develop
pressed and wire formed components including gold plated contacts assembled with injection moulded housings.

High volume springs for the electronics industry

Goss Springs has for many years been a manufacturer of miniature springs which serve as a key component in the actuation of electro-mechanical micro-switches. Often known as “snap action switches” a small tension spring will hold the micro-switch in its normally closed or open position until the switch
is actuated. Burgess Microswitches, now part of the Johnson Electric Group, was for many years the leading brand of UK micro-switches and still today Goss is the key supplier of miniature springs to the Group.

Springs and wire shapes can provide solutions for a diverse range of applications and if you look around the home and office there are hundreds of products that contain springs and wire shapes; plug sockets, light controls, temperature control, kitchen appliances to name but a few.
