Karl Hurrell, the director and creator behind the soon to be launched compact hand-held tape dispenser, TapePal, approached European Springs & Pressings looking to them to solve the final sticking point in his product.

Hurrell said European Springs & Pressings was able to give TapePal what it needed. Not only did the company recognise the potential of the product, it also took the time to discuss the sketches, refining and engineering them into designed solutions, creating bespoke tools to
deliver a manufacturing solution.

The spring ‘finger’ that was crafted is singly the most important element of the design. Stuart McSheehy, Managing Director of European Springs & Pressings said creating bespoke tool making equipment to manufacture a design solution for a specific pressed metal or wire form element is quite innovative.

Taking a design from the drawing board to the production floor is simply part of the engineering process at European Springs & Pressings. TapePal are not the first to
have looked to the company to solve an engineering issue and they certainly won’t be the last. The organisation’s dedicated team of skilled and experienced designers and engineers have worked on, designed and developed a number of engineered products over the companies near 70 year heritage, with many now becoming commonly known must have items.

Key clients include globally recognised brands as diverse as Bosch to Panasonic to the window displays of Liberty’s. European Springs and Pressings has the
ability to take customers ideas and concepts and engineer them into reality, ready for both low and high volume production.

Based across the three sites, European Springs and Pressings has a catalogue stock of over 12,000 individual standard products such as disc springs, gas springs and circlips and, thanks to ongoing R&D relationships with its clients, is currently running between 30-40 new products through its facilities every month, either on a short or long term production programme.

Over three million
components an hour are produced in 75,000 square feet of factory. Spring coiling technologies use wire ranging from 0.03 to 26mm diameter and high speed presses can produce simple designs through to precision three dimensional forms. In excess of 1,000 tonnes of materials are stored on site alongside a range of packaging solutions, enabling European Springs and Pressings to offer total supply management.

Thanks to its range of machinery, and design facilities, the company is able to deliver one-off prototyping services right up to full-scale serial production.
