MVK Metal Now Available with ProfiNet Interface

Murrelektronik has expanded its proven MVK Metal product range by adding digital I/O modules with ProfiNet interface, thus offering a real innovation. The Ethernet switch integrated into the module makes the field installation very simple and clear. All modules support the automatic topology recognition LLDP. This simplifies the start-up and also the service work.

Because of their extremely robust metal housing and the proven M12 respectively 7/8” round connector technology with IP67 protection the modules are also suited for ap-plications with high vibration and impact loads during operation and applica-tions requiring welding strength.

Securing efficiency and integrating functionality is the focus of modern machine and system installations. ProfiNet is specially designed for these needs and at the same time open for further requirements. Murrelektronik has a proven track record of de-centralization and with the MVK-Metal and ProfiNet it offers innovative technology for forward-looking installation technology.
Due to the fully potted zinc die-casting housing with surface finishing, made from one piece, even the challenging requirements of harsh environments are fulfilled. Due to its vibration strength (vibration 15g and impact 60g) the robust fieldbus module is also perfectly suited for the use under extreme conditions as for example in the field of press technology.

Reducing unplanned downtimes ensures more efficiency. Therefore the MVK-Metal ProfiNet is equipped with diagnostics comprising port related turnoff in case of error and single-channel diagnostic – typical for Murrelektronik. Overloads, short circuits on the sensor, and cable breaks are independently monitored for every individual chan-nel. Errors are indicated by an LED and reported to the control without interfering with the adjacent channels.
In addition to a digital input module a multifunctional module for free configuration is available. Every channel can be independently configured as input or output, both for pin 4 and for pin 2 of the female connector.
The digital input or output modules will be automatically replaced by the multifunc-tional module. This provides the advantage that only the “service module” has to be stocked. If service work is performed the input module is replaced by the service module. After a reset, the “service module” is automatically configured by the control without requiring a software adaptation, thus operating as the module replaced. In-ventory costs are reduced. Service work becomes easier.

Murrelektronik also offers a full range of modules for Profibus, Interbus, CAN-Open, DeviceNet, Ethernet TCP/IP and ASi. We also manufacture a market leading range of M12, M8 and 7/8” connectors and accessories.
