Ethernet Gateway For Pneumatic Valve Terminals

Festo has chosen the Mtec event to launch its new Ethernet equipped gateway for pneumatic valve terminals.. This latest generation, open-architecture product is easily integrated into existing factory automation systems as well as higher order IT networks, enabling master PLCs or SCADA systems to retrieve diagnostic data from valves, sensors and actuators. The Festo CPX-FEC front-end controller is believed to be the first product of its kind that is capable of accessing this type of 'Level 1' data - a key requirement of future automation systems, according to Festo. By using this data to focus preventive maintenance on critical applications, users will be able to increase machine productivity and avoid process errors. The unit can operate as an embedded Ethernet gateway or stand alone PLC, and accommodates a range of communication protocols.
