Eurotherm Introduces Its First Commodity Ac Drive

Eurotherm introduces its first 'commodity' ac drive Eurotherm Drives' new 650 series ac inverter is the company's first 'commodity' drive. Available initially in three compact frame sizes rated at 230V (0.2-1.5kW) and 400V (to 7.5kW), the range will shortly be extended to 90kW. While the 650 overlaps the existing 690 series in four mid-sizes, it is a completely different animal. Aimed at the huge majority of applications requiring only standard functionality, the 650 is designed to be easily configured and has default settings for a range of duties, including variable torque (fans and pumps) and constant torque (conveyors and mixers) applications. The inverters have built-in filters up to 7.5kW and footprint filters above this level. They are programmed via a six-button keypad and a display provides local motor control, diagnostics and drive status indication. Configurable inputs and outputs enable the drives to be controlled from either 0-10V or 4-20mA signals or, alternatively, from up to eight pre-set speeds. There are two programmable digital I/O and one programmable analogue output for load or speed. A motor thermistor input and relay output are provided as standard.
