RS Components showcases its support for education and innovation

RS Components has participated in a new online engineering program commissioned by ITN Productions and the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) to highlight its support for education and innovation.

The ‘Engineering Around Us’ program showcases the increasingly diverse and multi-disciplinary nature of engineering with the help of key industry interviews and news-style reports along with sponsored editorial profiles of some of the leading organisations in the sector.

The film features RS Live, the mobile experience that is currently touring across northern and central Europe showcasing the company’s innovation to customers, academic institutions and local communities. The program shows year seven school children gaining a hands-on experience of engineering through a series of interactive display zones within the ‘innovation in motion’ vehicle. RS Live aims to bring engineering and technology to everyone, and to capture the interest of future engineers. RS recognises its potential to influence the uptake of engineering to prevent a future skills gap in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects.

The program also highlights the role of RS as a technology enabler by striving to be the first to bring innovation and new products to market. Jesse Lozano, CEO and co-founder of pi-top, is one of the spokespeople in the film and discusses the key role that the free and unlimited DesignSpark PCB software from RS played in the development of their innovative product. The ease of use and availability of the electronics design software enabled the first pi-top prototype to be created in just nine months.
