E-T-A Develops Battery Master Switch To Meet Adr 2003

E-T-A has introduced a range of battery master switches for hazardous cargo carrying road tankers that meet the 2003 edition of ADR regulations and the additional requirements of UK operators. The BMS01 series provides both single- and double-pole switching options for chassis and insulated return systems, and can be operated remotely from the driver's cab or other strategic locations on the vehicle. It is sealed to IP69(k), significantly ahead of the minimum IP65 specification in ADR2003. On disconnection, the main contacts open after a short pre-set delay to allow for the controlled shut down of engine management systems. During this delay, an additional set of contacts closes to sound an audible alarm. Further contacts are fitted for alternator field disconnection and a permanently energised protected output is maintained for the tachograph display. The unit has a novel under-voltage monitoring feature that disconnects the battery from the electrical system in the event of a fall in voltage to 22.8V.
