Foremost Electronics has introduced a new family of RoHS-compliant push-button switch modules which, with their integral LCD and long-term reliability, provide an attractive, practical and dependable option in a variety of switching applications.
Introduced as the TD Series, this sub-miniature display switch is designed for direct or socket mounting onto a PCB, and has a footprint of less than 6mm x 15mm in all versions. It provides a contact rating of 12Vdc at 100mA, and a mechanical life of 3 million operations. Mechanically, the switch has the options of normal or low tactile feedback, or silent operation.
In practical terms, an important attribute of the TD Series is its integral LCD. This is arranged in the high-contrast negative 20 x 52 dot matrix and it is capable of graphics as well as alphanumeric characters in two columns, with high visibility over a wide angle. The display is also provided with mono-, dual-colour and chromatic LED back-lighting.
Together, these features provide the designer with a compact, highly functional and attractive switch package offering reliable operation over the lifetime of the host equipment.
