The German equipment manufacturer, Sick has developed a filling machine
for water filter maker, Brita, which feeds the soft granulate media
accurately into individual filter cartidges. Brita wanted to run the
filling operation as fast as possible, but didn't want to incur product
spillage as a result. The solution was to fit an Ace Controls SC190
miniature shock absorber on each metering unit. These maintenance-free
hydraulic devices support the metering station and control the movement
of the granulate-filled cartridge. The metering unit stops exactly at the
pre-defined position for each cartridge allowing the filling to take
place quickly and precisely. SC series shock absorbers have an integral
mechanical stop and are suitable for a range of applications involving
linear cylinders, rodless cylinders and pneumatically driven slides.
