HBM’s modular CANHEAD amplifier system now accepts more efficient RJ connectors thanks to the new CB1016 module. The CB1016 allows strain gage quarter bridges to be conveniently and reliably connected through shielded RJ45 plugs or easier-to-manage and less expensive RJ11 plugs.
RJ connectors have many advantages for end users because they are easy to connect, properly reducing strain gage installation - even in inaccessible spots. There is virtually no risk of mixing up of cable cores with RJ connectors, and testing of the strain gages is simplified.
The CB1016 is complemented by HBM’s range of pre-assembled strain gages with cables which are now offered with pre-fitted RJ connectors.
CANHEAD is HBM’s distributed system of compact 10-channel measuring modules and is ideal for structural testing with medium-to-large channel counts. Experimental stress analysis using strain gages is the main principle of measurement applied for this purpose.
CANHEAD is based on HBM’s patented four-wire configuration and uses a carrier frequency of 600 Hz. By comparison with conventional three-wire systems, the four-wire configuration ensures increased precision and insensitivity to cable resistance variations.
