Interroll unveiled the first prototypes of its new self-cleaning conveyor drum motors at this year's IFFA trade fair in Frankfurt/Germany. Boasting a fully integrated self-cleaning mechanism, the drum motors are of particular benefit to food processing applications.
Supplied with water and a cleaning agent, the drum motor with its specially positioned nozzles is capable of cleaning itself, as well as the underside of the conveyor line within the area of the motor and the joints of the conveyor belt. The cleaning liquid enters the unit via the drum motor axis and is then distributed to the nozzles via a chamber. Cleaning is performed while the drum motor is in operation.
