Going the distance with new sensor enhancement

Turck Banner announces the availability of its Uprox3 series of inductive proximity sensors, now with a 50 percent larger switching distance.

The new Uprox3 series offers the largest switching distance of all Factor 1 sensors, a term applied to a specific type of inductive sensor that has the same switching distance for ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

The Uprox3 sensors are supplied in a compact, 4mm smooth barrel and M5 designs with a 1mm switching distance even when flush mounted.

Much like the previous generation, the Uprox3 sensors offer high EMC stability and flexible mounting, including full flush mounting and precise switching points. They are also available with robust PTFE coatings.

Due to new technology and continuous research & development, Turck has been able to achieve larger switching distances without any compromise in performance or cost. It is now possible to sense 3mm in the M8 design, 6mm in the M12 and 10mm in the M18.

With a ‘fit & forget’ ability and because of their inherent immunity to magnetic fields, these sensors are suitable for industries such as welding within automotive, metal forming markets as well as the rail industry and for general applications such as production/assembly lines.

With the demand from advanced technology, the Uprox3 sensors are also IO-Link enabled in the M12 and M18 barrel sizes. This intelligence allows the sensors to perform variable switching options, temperature monitoring and identification capabilities.

The new series has already been field tested in the automotive production sector. Replacing the previous M18 Uprox+, the Uprox3 proved to be an ideal enhancement.
