New machining process

Morgan Advanced Ceramics, a technical ceramics specialist, has commissioned a new machining process at its manufacturing site. The process will enable the manufacture of smaller, thinner and more complex shapes at the same, and in some cases greater, tolerances and levels. It will also deliver highly-efficient machining of advanced materials such as silicon carbide and high-grade aluminas, in some cases reducing production time by as much as 50%.

“Our customers in high tech markets, for example semiconductor, aerospace and medical, are under enormous pressure to deliver innovative products in increasingly shorter lead times, but without compromising on quality or performance,” explains Roy Mason, general manager, Morgan Advanced Ceramics. “We need to help them meet these demands, and this new process expands the range of products we can offer and enables faster customer response times.”
