Next generation of plug-in e-chain

igus introduces readychain speed 2.0, a next generation plug-in e-chain ready to fit directly onto a machine without specialist tools.

A further development of the plug-in readychain concept, this next generation version combines the connector, mounting bracket and energy chain in one single unit. This makes connection three times faster and  means it can accommodate 16 different modular inserts for any common connector type for fibre optic, control, servo, data or pneumatic lines. Furthermore, the energy chain doesn’t need to be bolted into position; it can be taken on/off with your hand.

With no tools required, this allows for a quick swap when necessary, reducing maintenance cost and machine downtime.

Justin Leonard, director, igus comments that “in very high-cost production environments, such as the automotive industry, or for warehousing storage and retrieval systems, every minute of downtime can cost £1000s. Whenever possible, spare sub-assemblies are kept in-stock to enable quick swap out should damage occur. The readychain speed 2.0 pre-harnessed energy chain system is a single unit and as such can be exchanged very quickly, reducing machinery downtime significantly.”
