The MTS Temposonics R Series Profibus magnetostrictive position sensor, available from RDP Electronics, is ideal for accurate, absolute position measurement. Typical applications include slitting lines, paper making machines and cut-to-length lines.
The R Series device allows positioning of up to 15 magnets along the length of the sensor, significantly reducing installation and maintenance costs associated with an encoder microswitch or proximity switch. By using the rod version, lengths of 7,500 mm are available with up to 12,000 mm if using the RF flexible system.
