Anixter Components (formerly Heyco) has announced that its metal and nylon cable glands have been approved to IP69K (DIN 40 050 part 9:1993 & EN 60529:1991) for use in applications where the appliance will be subjected to high pressure cleaning - for example, in processing equipment for foods, pharmaceuticals and chemicals.
The cable glands have been proven to withstand the most rigorous cleaning methods using high-pressure cleaning equipment, without any leakage or damage, and as a result provide a secure method to seal cables into panels. They protect reliably against the ingress of dust and water and can withstand water pressures up to 10,000kPa, at a rate of up to 16 litres per minute and at a temperature of 80ºC.
"The approval of our metal and nylon threaded cable glands means we can now offer a reliable sealing solution for almost any application and environment," says Andrew Fletcher, Anixter Components. "Total compliance with hygiene specifications and optimum cleanliness are decisive success factors for manufacturers and we are pleased to offer this solution."
Anixter Components offers over 500 cable glands, from its standard series through to its popular range of flex-protecting metric, Pg and NPT glands, which provide extra support to the cable and prevent cables from bending sharply.
The cable glands are installed easily into panels using standard lock nuts. The nylon cable glands are supplied with a soft rubber sealing gasket which is resistant against oils and greases. The nylon glands are available in black and grey as standard, and can accommodate cables up to a diameter of 44mm.
