USB 3.0 single-board camera with 18 megapixel colour sensor

The new UI-359xLE USB 3.0 board-level camera from IDS Imaging Development Systems with Aptina’s 18 MP sensor AR1820HS is a high-resolution system suitable for restricted space installations.

The rolling shutter colour sensor ensures detailed images at VGA, 4K Cinema, or 18 megapixel resolution. Thanks to the latest backside illuminated (BSI) technology, the 1/2in sensor is very light-sensitive. It sits on a board measuring only 36 x 36mm.

Connection options include an 8-pin connector with 5V power supply, trigger and flash, two GPIOs, and an I2C bus to control the peripherals.

This industrial grade camera delivers images in resolutions that include: Full HD (1920 x 1080, 37 fps), 4K Cinema (4,096 x 2,304, 18 fps) and 18 megapixel (4912 x 3684, 11 fps). The BSI sensor shows a much better pixel performance, even under low-light conditions, as the image sensor with its light-sensitive structures is directly located behind the lens, allowing more light to reach the photodiode.

In addition to a board-level version with S-Mount lens holder and a single-board version, a housed version is also available. The IDS Software Suite is included, enabling easy switching from USB 2.0 to USB 3.0 technology.
