Molex has recently expanded its Circular MT cable assemblies line to meet the rising performance demands required by a number of industries - including telecommunications, military and medical. The new 1-by-3 Circular MT connector and adapter provide high density, designed to meet or exceed the mechanical specifications of traditional inter-chassis connections. Visitors to stand 3754 at NXTcomm 2007 will be able to see them on display.
With their metal housing and stainless steel push/twist locking ring, the Circular MT cable assemblies offer a more robust MT ferrule-based interface, compared to traditional ribbon-based optical connectors. Both the Circular MT adapter and 1-by-3 Circular MT adapter housings feature a deep, polarised mating cavity that reduces alignment-pin hole damage that may occur with traditional MT connector systems. Additionally, features including cable management clips, shutters, removal tabs and cleaning tools, which aim to meet customers’ design and installation requirements.
“Molex expanded its Circular MT product offering to provide solutions for increasing performance demands and density requirements in the medical, military and telecommunications industries,” said Tom Schiltz, product manager of Molex. “Molex felt it was necessary to expand its diverse MT ferrule-based product line to offer customers a complete end-to-end solution, allowing their systems to meet next-generation demands.”
Designed to fit round, multi-fibre jackets, the 1-by-3 Circular MT connectors employ the use of 36 to 72 loose fibres in a single round ruggedised cable that allows for 360 degree rotation. The enhanced design features of the 1-by-3 Circular MT ensure improved alignment benefits, increased pull-strength and enhanced fibre management.
The 1-by-3 Circular MT connector is offered as a terminated cable assembly, and customised for each customer’s application.
