Ideal homes for electrical junctions

Spelsberg has launched a new range of enclosures with a clean design and tough materials for general purpose housing of electrical junctions and components. The Norma range offers electrical fitters, distribution companies and OEM manufacturers access to a range of Polycarbonate and ABS plastic enclosures. They provide ingress protection to IP65, UV protection and mechanical protection from impacts.

There are 14 sizes available, offering different dimensions as well as a range of sizes starting from small 52 x 50 x 35mm boxes through to the larger 360 x 200 x 150mm items at the other end of the range. Enclosures are available with opaque or transparent lids. The enclosures offer IP65 sealing when used with suitable cable entries or glands and have smooth walls, making them ideal for wash down environments such as food production and outdoor exposure.

Materials available include Polycarbonate, for slightly higher impact resistance and a greater temperature range from -35 to +120ºC, and a less costly but still robust ABS material for temperature ranges from -40 to +70ºC. ABS or acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, is a new thermoplastic material for the Spelsberg range and is ideal for light, rigid, moulded products manufactured with economy in mind. More commonly known as the material used to make Lego bricks, ABS is stronger than pure polystyrene, but provides a smooth durable and impervious surface.

The new Norma enclosures complement Spelsberg’s existing range of over 400 different housings and are available with a range of accessories including internal mounting plates for electrical equipment, mounting feet and hinge kits. Thanks to Spelsberg’s population and modification service, Norma enclosures are also available with CNC milled bespoke entries and pre-drilled cable entry points; as well as pre-fitted with a range of termination and circuit protection components on short lead times.

Spelsberg has the largest range of ex-stock plastic enclosures available in the UK at the company’s Telford headquarters, where the entire Norma range is stocked; centrally located to provide immediate access to technical support and next day delivery on all standard items.
