Thermal imaging systems supplied by Firstsight

Firstsight Vision has signed an exclusive distribution agreement for the UK with Opgal Optronic Industries, for sales into the industrial, security and defence markets. This is part of a wider European agreement with the Stemmer Imaging Group.

Opgal is a supplier of highly sensitive cooled and uncooled Thermal Imaging Systems, infrared cameras engines and custom systems for industrial, R&D, defense, security and paramilitary applications to OEMs and Integrators implemented in the air, sea and land. OPGAL manufactures fourth-generation infrared cameras, based on InSb or MCT cryogenically cooled detectors and on VOx or aSi microbolometer uncooled detectors. The InSb or MCT detectors function in the 3 ìm to 5 ìm spectral band and are available in 320 x 240 or 640 x 480 pixel resolution. The microbolometer systems operate in the 8 ìm to 12 ìm spectral band with 640x480 or 320 x 240 or 160 x 120 pixel resolution.

Mark Williamson, Firstsight director, said: “This agreement is part of our strategy to utilise the synergies between the high end security/defence market and the machine vision market. Additional resources are being applied in conjunction with this appointment to maximise our impact in this new market. Unlike many of the IR manufacturers, OPGAL use Israeli and European sensor technology, so the long delays that occur with many suppliers to gain US Export licences does not apply, significantly reducing delivery times.”
