Elastomer Buffers Absorb More Energy

The new Tubus range of elastomer profile buffers from Ace Controls is claimed to offer a much greater energy absorbing capacity than other materials such as urethanes, rubber and spring steel. Elastomer buffers have a respectable life expectancy of up to one million cycles - twenty times longer than that of urethane, ten times longer than rubber and five times longer than steel springs. Five models are available, each providing different stopping characteristics across a broad energy range. Tubus diameters range from 20mm to 188mm, and body lengths are from 19mm to 252mm. With a maximum energy absorption of 66%, these buffers are suitable for applications in which a moving mass does not need to be decelerated to an exact datum position, such as an emergency stop.
