Low-profile swinghandles for panel builders

EMKA Swinghandles have been developed in response to the needs of specialist panel builders whose equipment will be installed in crowded situations or where style and simplicity are key factors. Their low profile and smooth style minimises the personnel hazards of caught clothes and arms. At the same time their clean lines with recessed handle offer looks which can be seen “in public”. Good examples of this are the new 1150 series and the elegant 2100 series.

1150 series has an ultra low profile pop-out swinghandle, in an escutcheon only 9mm deep and 120mm high by 36mm wide. This unit takes up minimal door panel space, and provides specialist panel builders with the opportunity to have all the benefits of swinghandle technology even on smaller cabinets.

A new feature on the rod mechanism is the use of a 45° offset for the levers, which has the advantage of increasing rod extension and reducing the force required to operate the handle. The 1150 centre lock can provide 26mm of stroke (some 8mm more than conventionally).

Typically intended for use with EMKA’s space saving flat rod system in plastic guides, the 1150 is simple to install either within the sealing area - or, as pioneered by EMKA, external to the gasket.

The 2100 series offers a unique combination of style and functionality with a 7mm escutcheon and up to IP65 ingress protection.

Crucial to safety in confined areas, the extremely low protrusion of this 2100 escutcheon and recessed handle is designed to provide minimum opportunities for clothes or limbs to get caught up in passing, as is all too often experienced with traditional handles in crowded corridors.

The 2100 series of handle mechanisms feature a black polyamide finish and are designed to suit the new 1121 flat rod system for cabinets of 800mm up to 2.2 metres in height. The 2100 handle/escutcheon system accepts eurolock cylinders with various international key profiles and all other square, triangular, double bit, hexagon, slotted, crown or Daimler Benz type mechanism.

Combined with the 1121 flat rod system, up to five-point “pull-down” may be provided on the gasket, significantly improving IP protection and giving a “quality feel” to door operation.
