OLED Modules use matrix technology

Inelco Hunter has introduced the Powertip range of OLED (Organic LED) graphic modules, which combine high-contrast colours with a wide viewing angle and rapid response time - along with a cost-effective price.

These new modules use new, active matrix technology. The response time is <20us, as opposed to ~25,000us for TFT LCDs, making them ideal for full-motion video. The viewing angle is 180º, as opposed to 120º (at best) with TFT LCDs.

The modules also feature a very high contrast ratio of 10,000:1, and because no backlight is needed, the power consumption is very low - typically 100-200 mA. Therefore, the product is extremely suitable for battery/portable solutions.

The operating temperature is -40ºC to +85ºC, compared with -20ºC to +70ºC with TFT LCDs. The modules are also very slim, with a typical thickness of <1.6mm, compared with >2.4mm.
