Non-contacting rotary position sensors

TT Electronics has introduced the MagnePot 8150 family of high-performance, multi-turn, non-contacting rotary position sensors, which will operate reliably over a minimum of 10 million shaft rotations with no signal output degradation.

The 8150 Series combines Hall Effect non-contacting sensing technology and high-performance internal bearing design. The non-contacting sensing technology also facilitates clean, ratiometric absolute position outputs across multiple turns without sliding contact noise.

Units are available in a choice of three, five or ten turns, each powered via a 5Vdc supply. The ratiometric output range is from 4 percent to 96 percent of supply with a 12mA maximum current rating. The sensors also feature ±0.50 percent independent linearity as standard, with optional improvement to ±0.25 percent. Standard operating temperature range is -40°C  to +125°C.

Additional 8150 device options include alternative output voltages, servo mounts, non-linear outputs, IP50 or IP66 ingress protection, and severe environment versions. Severe service models further incorporate sealed shafts and rear lids.
