RP Technologies begins 2016 with £125,000 investment in new machinery

West Midlands based prototype tooling and injection moulding company, RP Technologies, has invested £125,000 in EDM technology - a Sodick AD55L CNC spark erosion machine with six-stage tool change facility.

As part of RP Technologies’ ongoing investment and expansion plans, the company has purchased an EDM machine to improve its current capabilities and services to customers. The Sodick AD55L CNC Spark erosion machine is expected to reduce RP Technologies' short lead times even further.

Spark Erosion is a method used when machining challenging tooling with intricate detail. As a prototype toolmaker, RP's philosophy is to achieve what the client requires with regard to the part form and not to change the part design to fit in with the tooling manufacturing process, which is common practice in this industry.

The AD55L features Sodick’s latest LN NC unit which is equipped with the new 'TMM3' discharge power supply, meaning it is capable of high speed, high precision and high efficiency machining.

Extensive training has been given to RP’s toolmakers to ensure their customers get the most from this new equipment.
