Self-Compensating Shock Absorbers

Ace Controls International's new SC300 and SC650 'Heavyweight II' series of have an effective weight range some ten times greater than that of its existing Magnum series, and an energy capacity up by nearly 200%. Ace says it has achieved this by combining the piston and inner tube into a single component that acts as both a pressure-creating and pressure-controlling device. Shock absorber performance within a comparable body shell is directly related to piston area; the new units have a piston area that is some 250% greater than previous models. The SC300 handles effective weights from 11 to 181kg, with an energy capacity of 73Nm/cycle, while the SC650 handles effective weights from 23 to 1,089kg with an energy capacity of 210Nm/cycle.
