Grayhill's new 62P PCB mounting optical encoder switch, which is
available in the UK form EAO, is claimed to offer several times the life
cycle reliability of other comparable mechanical encoders. Minimum life
expectancy is quoted as 500,000 rotational cycles. Moreover, the switch
requires no de-bounce circuitry, which is normally necessary with
mechanical contact devices. Terminations, shaft and bushing
configurations can be customised to meet specific requirements.
