New range of fans introduced

As a major manufacturer of both catalogue and special-purpose fans, Oriental Motors are constantly expanding their product portfolio. The latest additions to this family of products include a new axial flow fan, models featuring an integral filter or alarm circuitry, and a long life fan.

In many instances, the very location of a fan renders it inaccessible once the host equipment is in operation. For such applications, Oriental Motor have introduced the MDE Series long-life fan, which is designed to provide a lifetime of 100,000 hours or more. Measuring only 120mm x 25mm deep, the MDE operates from 12Vdc or 24Vdc, and carries CE, UL, CUL and Demko approvals.

Where the uninterrupted cooling of equipment is of vital importance, the company offers two, purpose-designed fans. The Model MRS series is designed to activate an alarm when the fan speed falls to within 8.5% of 1800rpm. Ten versions are available in frame sizes ranging from 119mm² x 25mm deep, to 250mm² x 120mm deep, and these deliver an air flow and static pressure of up to 24m³/min and 86Pa, respectively. Versions for 12/24Vdc, 230Vac or 115Vac operation are also available.

The Model MD series is designed to deliver an alarm in the event that the fan stops altogether. It is available for 12 or 24Vdc operation, in frame sizes between 42mm² x 10mm deep and 120mm² x 25mm deep, delivering an air flow of up to 2.7m³/min, static pressure up to 86Pa.

A more powerful version of Oriental Motors’ popular MRS Series axial flow fan has also been introduced, to meet demands for frame sizes between 160 and 250mm. Designed for ac mains operation at 230 or 115Vac, it provides an alarm function to detect a drop in speed of +/- 3% and, in the case of 50Hz models, delivers an air flow typically of 21m³/min at 2900rpm, static pressure 32Pa. A ‘Variflow’ version is also available for air flow regulation, and all versions are CE and CUL approved.

Completing this quartet of introductions is the FM Series filter fan, which is designed to provide cooling to IP55 and particulate protection to IP43 requirements, typically in equipment cabinets.

Available in suction or exhaust versions, the FM Series is extremely flexible: the fan may be supplied separately from the filter and cover, allowing them to be installed separately in the host cabinet to ensure that internally-circulating air is free from dust and other particulates. Three sizes are available, delivering up to 1.37m³/min at 3000rpm, static pressure 63Pa, from power supplies of 230 or 115Vac. The Series is RoHS conformant.
