Carbon fibre linear guide up to 60 percent lighter

igus has introduced the dryin W linear guide system, which is constructed entirely of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP). Extremely lightweight, the rail is stiffer than metal counterparts and non-magnetic.

Available for travel lengths of up to 2m, the drylin W linear guide system is up to 60 percent lighter than a traditional steel rail system, and 40 percent less compared with, the ‘light’ alternative - an aluminium rail.

The rail is available as a completely metal-free belt drive system, which integrates plastic pulleys and xiros plastic ball bearings – all available from igus. Being completely free from metal, these linear guide systems can be used without restrictions within X-ray equipment.
