Variohm builds sensor portfolio

Variohm Eurosensor has added cable extension sensors to its portfolio, plus a D-shaft option to its motorsports-proven Hall Effect angle sensor range.

Several new models are available ex-stock from cable extension transducer specialist Celesco Inc., providing stroke options of 6.4 and 10.2m with a variety of electrical interfaces, including CANbus, voltage and current output, in addition to a choice of plastic-hybrid potentiometer sensing or flange-mounted encoder.

With its glass-filled polycarbonate housing the durable SK series has an IP67 environmental rating and nominal dimensions of approximately 165mm x 109mm x 139mm (w x d x h). Installation in any orientation is very easy thanks to a rotatable mounting bracket - and alignment of the robust spring-loaded stainless steel measuring cable is non-critical.

With maximum cable velocity to 1.5 m/sec and acceleration to 5g, the sensor has a life rating in excess of 250,000 cycles and operating temperature range from -40 to +85°C.

Variohm EuroSensor has also increased the interfacing flexibility of its motorsports-proven Euro-XP non-contacting angle sensor with a new 8mm diameter D-shaft drive option which is available with a choice of 32 or 38mm PCD mounting. The D-shaft with its integral magnet is easily installed for throttle position sensing, without the need for a separate coupling.

The coupling-free sensor is also convenient for direct connection on other motorsport position sensing applications such as steering angle, suspension and gearbox.
