New 185mm busbar system improves switchgear safety

Rittal has introduced a quick-to-assemble, modular busbar system - Ri4Power 185mm - and has released the latest version (6.3) of its Power Engineering software.

The busbar system consists of standardised and tested products, which all meet the requirements of IEC 61 439 for low-voltage switchgear assemblies with design verification.  Its smart design is a notable strong point.

It is easy to assemble with a modular configuration and ideally adapted to the Rittal TS 8 bayed enclosure. Contact hazard protection is mounted on the busbar before the switching and circuit protective devices are attached.

Configuring moulded-case circuit-breakers with adaptors or NH fused-switch disconnectors is simple; the devices are used in the frame of the cover and they contact the busbars through the cover. Subsequent retrofitting or extension is also possible without having to adjust the contact hazard protection.

To help support both planning and configuration, Rittal's Power Engineering software has been extended to include another program module for the Ri4Power 185mm busbar system.

With this software, enclosure panels are selected according to user requirements and fitted out as required. The parts lists and drawings are automatically generated in the background, allowing a clear picture of the final construction to be produced early on in the project.

After the configuration phase is complete, the necessary design verification can be automatically generated for each switchgear unit.
