Cure-In-Place Elastomer Seals Using Vertex Technology

Cure-in-place elastomer seals using 'Vertex' technology DuPont Dow Elastomers has developed a new technology, dubbed 'Vertex', which combines economical cure-in-place (CIP) techniques with a wider selection of elastomer seal materials beyond the usual silicones and polyurethanes. Vertex uses equipment similar to hot-melt applications, but without the added inconvenience of having to mix two-part compounds. The elastomer is robotically dispensed on the substrate where it is cured using UV light. No post-cure is required, so the substrate is not subjected to high temperatures. Several material compositions can be used with Vertex, including compounds based on DuPont Vamac ethylene acrylic elastomers and Viton fluoroelastomers - two well-tried products for under-the-bonnet applications.
