Modular System For Planetary Gearboxes

The German company, IMS Gear has developed a building block system for planetary gearboxes, based on standard parts, that can be used to assemble more than 4,000 variants, meeting all specifications for load, duty cycle, noise reduction, cost and other parameters. Components are available in metal for the most demanding applications, or in synthetic materials to meet noise reduction requirements of low torque applications. Available in the UK from Drive Lines Technologies, the gearboxes are supplied in 22, 32, 42, 52, 62, 81 and 120mm diameters, offering torque capacities to 300Nm. The 22mm and 32mm versions have reduction ratios up to 1,140:1 and 2.076:1 respectively, while larger sizes offer ratios up to a maximum of 308:1. There's a lot of mounting flexibility, and IMS can produce special interface parts such as motor pinions, motor adaptor flanges and gearbox output flanges. If final assembly length is critical, the company can even machine the drive pinion directly to the motor shaft.
