Software package offers total compatibility

Schneider Electric has released Vijeo Citect SCADA, one of the first fruits of Schneider Electric’s purchase of Citect in 2006. In line with Schneider’s objective of achieving leadership in automated system display and data management, Schneider Electric and Citect will aim to provide customers with unsurpassed integrated solutions in Industrial Automation, HMI, SCADA and MES, whilst continuing to provide existing customers with easy migration paths to new platforms.

Vijeo Citect is a new and innovative SCADA software package which offers users total compatibility with the full Schneider Electric range of automation products including, for example, programmable controllers, variable speed drives and human-machine dialogue terminals.

The integration of Vijeo Citect in Schneider Electric’s preferred architectures provides users with high productivity at every stage of their installation’s life, from initial development, through implementation and commissioning, to on-going maintenance.

Vijeo Citect is scaleable from low-cost standalone configurations to extensive multi-client/multi-server implementations, and offers extensive native redundancy to guarantee maximum reliability. Users benefit from added value integrated components that are supplied as standard with Vijeo Citect. These include OFS, Schneider Electric’s OPC Factory Server, which optimises, simplifies and enhances communications with Modicon programmable controllers from Telemecanique, a brand of Schneider Electric; and Speedlink which synchronises symbol databases between SCADA and Unity PLC.

The object library used by Vijeo Citect is common with all other Vijeo products so users can enjoy the benefits a common environment for the creation of HMI/SCADA applications of all types and sizes.
Vijeo Citect’s support for hyper-threading facilitates task distribution and performance optimisation with a minimum of engineering effort. The packages' innovative design means that SCADA application tasks can easily be distributed between several PCs, or between multiple processors in a single PC.

Development software for Vijeo Citect is free-of-charge - users pay only site licensing for runtime applications. This not only means that new customers can evaluate the full functionality of the software without making any financial commitment, but also that Vijeo Citect users always have access to the latest version of the software at no cost.

To complement its Vijeo Citect software package, Schneider Electric also offers Vijeo Historian, a powerful data logging and reporting tool which is an SQL portal to production management applications, such as management execution and information systems.
