Specialist distributor Switchtec has launched a range of thermal control devices comprising combined fan/filter units and axial fans for OEM use. Aimed at those manufacturing control panels, the units will find favour with equipment manufacturers and panel builders seeking a one-stop shop for this equipment.
Control panel manufacturers are increasingly under pressure to develop smaller panels, and at the same time to fit more and more heat generating electronic equipment into smaller, confined spaces. As a result, heat build up often becomes a problem and manufacturers require methods of efficiently ventilating their control panels.
By fitting a fan into the panel it enables the manufacturer to reduce the size of the panel, as the fan will extract the excess heat. However, the movement of air through the panel can also cause a problem due to dust and dirt ingress into the enclosure. Switchtec¹s range of combined fan filters are able to reduce heat build-up in the enclosure whilst eliminating or at least minimising dust ingress.
To simplify installation, Switchtec offers panel builders a combined low profile fan and filter unit. Supplied complete and partially assembled, the builder simply cuts the panel (cut out template supplied with fan) to the required size and snaps in the fan/filter combination. Screw terminals accept the power wiring to the unit.
The combined fan/filter units are weather proof to IP54 as standard, and are UL/CSE approved. The units are available in ac voltages from 24V-230V, and a 24V dc version is also available, as are EMC versions. Physically, panel cut out sizes of 92 x 92mm, 125 x 125mm, 177 x 177mm, 223 x 223mm and 291 x 291mm are available. The units offer airflow rates from 23m3/hr to 730m3/hr.
Switchtec has taken into account the requirements of the panel builders and offers two colours of fan filter combinations, these being grey RAL7032 or grey RAL7035.
Switchtec¹s stand-alone type axial fans are high quality units with a shielded, ball bearing design that extends the life of the fan. These are available in ac and dc voltages from 24-230V. The ac fans are supplied in black die cast aluminium, whilst dc fans are supplied as a black fibreglass reinforced PBT casting (these fans being self-extinguishing to UL94V-0). The fans accommodate an operating temperature of - 20°C to + 70°C, and airflow rates from 15m3/hr to 300m3/hr are available.
