The 2500 Series Processors bring new features and a new level of performance to Simatic 505 Control Systems. The C100 and C200 models handle medium-to-large discrete control applications, as well as basic process applications. The C300 and C400 models are equipped to handle large process applications with many PID loops, analogue alarms and special mathematical functions.
The 2500 Series Processors are designed to replace all Simatic 545 and 555 controllers while providing higher performance and more memory at lower cost. The processors complete CTI’s product family which already includes I/O bases, power supplies, base controllers and a range of I/O modules including digital, analogue, communications and specialised modules such as vibration monitoring.
The four processors replace all Simatic 545 and 555 models. They have built-in Ethernet and USB ports for programming and all but the entry level 2500-C100 have built-in Profibus and RS485 remote I/O connections. Maximum capabilities (depending on which processor is chosen) include 3 Mbytes memory, 8192 I/O points, 256 PID loops and 512 analogue alarms. The front panel incorporates an SD Flash memory card slot which is planned to support program and documentation storage in the near future.
The processors can be programmed using existing tools such as TISoft, SoftShop, APT or Workshop. To take full advantage of the enhanced features, however, users need to use FasTrak’s latest version of Workshop (also available from Lamonde Automation).
