Remote Control And Monitoring For Drives .

Remote control and monitoring for drives One of over 1,000 internet related projects that ABB is currently carrying out across its operations and product ranges, DriveWEB for Modbus allows remote monitoring and control of drives using the Internet, and intranet or WAP mobile telephone. The system can transmit alerts to warn of fault conditions and it enables drives to be stopped or started, or parameter values to be downloaded from any location in the world. DriveWEB is initially offered on the Comp-AC range of low power drives, with versions for higher powered units planned for the future. DriveWEB is loaded on a PC and this communicates with the drive(s) using the Modbus communication protocol, the RS485 Modbus being separate from the primary cantrol system. The PC is also connected to the Internet or intranet, and/or fitted with a GSM modem to communication with mobile WAP telephones. The PC can handle six simultaneous users - one with control privileges, the others with monitoring access only.
